For a strong bond, follow these steps.
Clean: Clean the spot. Use Isopropyl Alcohol. The surface energy must be right. Make sure it is dry.
Prime: For some plastics, use an adhesion promoter for automotive tape, like 3M Primer 94. This is part of good surface preparation for automotive tape.
Stick: Put the acrylic foam bonding tape on your part. Press down hard.
Wait: The bond gets stronger over time. Wait three days for the strongest hold.
Our VHB tapes can be used to bond a variety of substrates, including metals (such as aluminum, stainless steel), glass, various plastics (such as acrylic, polycarbonate, ABS), and coated surfaces. For low surface energy plastics (such as PP, PE), a primer may be required.
For best bonding results, the surface should be clean, dry, free of oil and dust. A mixture of isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and water (50/50) is recommended for cleaning.
